Trump Fined $2 Million
A New York court has ordered U.S. President Donald Trump to pay a $2 million fine to a number of charitable organizations for misusing his own charitable foundation's funds for personal political and business interests, reports Voice of America.
Judge Saliann Scarpulla made the ruling following a lawsuit filed by the New York Attorney General's office concerning the misuse of the Trump Foundation. The judge found that Trump had illegally influenced the actions of his campaign staff during the 2016 Iowa caucus preparations, conducting fundraising activities for veterans.
Last month, Trump's attorneys and the New York Attorney General's office signed an agreement to dissolve the foundation and redistribute nearly $1.7 million remaining in the foundation's accounts to other public organizations.
