Please, Let No One Politicize This Action: Professor on Student Protests
Today, students from the Faculty of Armenian Philology at Yerevan State University declared a strike. They are protesting against the decision to make subjects such as Armenian language, Armenian history, and Armenian literature non-mandatory in their academic programs.
“Please, let no one politicize this action. The students of this faculty have stood at the forefront of the revolution, and I have personally been part of it. We simply want to see better outcomes, and the action that the students have organized is purely physical; we are standing beside them. Now, I had the opportunity to speak. What does it mean to touch upon subjects that determine the identity of a nation? There is no need to bring us examples from foreign universities; I can also provide examples from dozens of other universities,” stated Professor Ashot Ter-Minasyan during a conversation with reporters.
