Prosecutors Oppose Bail for Robert Kocharyan
The Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan, under the presidency of Judge Anna Danibekyan, is discussing the defense team's request to allow bail as a means of restraint for Robert Kocharyan.
Prosecutors representing the charges are against the application of bail for the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan. They stated that he has connections outside of Armenia and has resided abroad for an extended period, which increases the risk of him fleeing and evading the judicial process.
Moreover, Prosecutor Petros Petrosyan pointed out that bail should be applied as one of the measures of restraint and should not be conditioned solely on the risk of flight. According to him, new circumstances are necessary to present the same request at this stage, whereas the defense team highlighted that a significant amount of time has passed since the court's decision.
