Prosecutor's Office Examines Anahit Bakhshyan's Application Regarding the October 27 Case

A public-political figure and member of the Public Council, Anahit Bakhshyan's application to the Prosecutor General's Office regarding the October 27 case is currently under review. This was stated by Arevik Khachatryan, head of the Public Relations Department of the Prosecutor's Office, in response to a question from 'Haykakan Zhamanak'.

She mentioned that after the discussion concludes, a response to Anahit Bakhshyan's application will be sent to her. It is noteworthy that on October 31, Anahit Bakhshyan addressed Prosecutor General Arthur Davtyan, asserting that despite the advisor's statement, she has not received a decision on the closure of the October 27 case since 2004. 'On October 30, I read in the 'Aravot' newspaper, in the article 'Victims' heirs and their representative in the October 27 case have been provided with a copy of the decision to close the criminal case,' where your advisor Gor Abrahamyan states that if any of the heirs of the victims or their representatives claim they have not received the decision regarding the closure of the criminal proceedings, they can apply to the RA Prosecutor’s Office, and a copy of the decision will be provided to them in accordance with the established procedure.'

Addressing the prosecutor general, Anahit Bakhshyan requested that as the widow of the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Yuri Bakhshyan, who was murdered by terrorists on October 27, 1999, she be provided with a copy of the decision made by the head of the RA Investigative Committee on November 11, 2004. 'I also want to ensure that I have familiarized myself with the accompanying letter that the prosecutor general's advisor claims exists. I quote what he said: 'The advisor to the prosecutor general asserted that, according to the materials of the criminal case, there is an accompanying letter directed to the heirs of the victim and their representative, as well as to the victims, stating that they have been provided with a copy of the decision to close the criminal proceedings, the procedure for appealing it has been clarified, and their right to familiarize themselves with the materials of the case has been explained,' Bakhshyan stated, expressing hope that after reviewing the decision, if she does decide to appeal, the appeal period will be calculated from the date of receipt.
