«We will also take certain steps»: Cavusoglu on the genocide resolution
The Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has announced that they will take retaliatory steps against the adoption of the Armenian Genocide resolution in the US House of Representatives.
In an interview with the pro-government newspaper “Akşam,” Cavusoglu stated, “Certain politicians and media are using the term ‘bill’ regarding the Armenian resolution (the resolution). This is not a bill, therefore it does not foresee sanctions. This has also been confirmed by the US authorities. Halting our dialogue with the US is a mistake, but we will also undertake certain steps. We have informed the US ambassador.”
It is worth reminding that the US House of Representatives adopted a resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide on October 29, along with a bill to impose sanctions on Turkey as a result of its military operations in northeastern Syria.
