Kapan Airport Operations to Begin in Early 2020

Kapan Airport operations are expected to commence in the first half of 2020. This was stated by Karen Vardanyan, the director of the Kapan Airport Company, in response to an inquiry from 'Haykakan Zhamanak'.

It is worth noting that it was previously announced that the airport would be ready by the summer of 2018. Vardanyan indicated that this timeline remains contingent upon the absence of delays in obtaining the necessary permits.

The media outlet inquired about the expected completion date of the airport's construction, given that it was reported to be in the final phase. 'Work is proceeding at full scale, in accordance with the timelines set forth by the project documentation, without delays. The implemented measures include not only the actual construction work but also the coordination of project documents with state authorities, necessary expert evaluations, documentation of work results, and so on, which is due to the complexity of the structure and the operational characteristics of the airport as a facility of significant importance,' he stated.
