Ararat Grigoryan Appointed as Governor of Vayots Dzor
The government decided today to appoint Ararat Grigoryan as the governor of Vayots Dzor province. "I am familiar with the problems of the region and I am confident that I will implement the government's programs in the province, improving the lives of Vayots Dzor residents even further," said Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Suren Papikyan.
The Prime Minister congratulated the newly appointed governor, wishing him success. It is worth noting that the former governor of Vayots Dzor, Tigran Sargsyan, had resigned following an incident that occurred on September 18 in the yard of one of the buildings in Yeghhegnadzor city, which resulted in Ara Mkrtchyan, an officer of the Armenian Ministry of Defense from Shirak Province, being transferred to the Yeghhegnadzor Medical Center in an unconscious state.
According to media reports, the governor of Vayots Dzor and his assistant were present at the incident. Days later, the assistant was detained, and later on, his brother was arrested.
