The Resolution is Futile: Erdogan on the Recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the House of Representatives
Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated on October 30 that the country's parliament is preparing a response to the adoption of a resolution by the U.S. Congress's House of Representatives, which recognizes the Armenian Genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman Turkey. Erdogan remarked, 'The resolution is futile: Turkey will not recognize it,' as quoted by Reuters.
On October 29, the U.S. House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly in favor of a resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide. Of the participating Congress members, 405 voted in favor, 11 against, and 3 abstained, while 14 did not cast a vote.
