Senate Must Recognize Armenian Genocide Now, US Senators Say
U.S. Senators Chris Van Hollen and Elizabeth Warren, representing Maryland and Massachusetts respectively, have commented on the passage of a resolution in the House of Representatives recognizing the Armenian Genocide.
“Last night, the House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved a resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide that took place in the Ottoman Empire. It is time for the Senate to do the same. Acknowledging history is the first step in ensuring it does not repeat itself,” Chris Van Hollen wrote on his Twitter page, as reported by Armenpress.
Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren added, “I join the Armenian community in Massachusetts and others across the nation in celebrating the passage of the House resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide. The Senate must recognize it now.”
