10 Billion AMD Misappropriation in Armed Forces
The results of the activities conducted in the field of state interest protection during the first nine months of 2019 have been summarized by the Military Prosecutor's Office of Armenia. During this period, the State Interest Protection Division of the Military Prosecutor's Office and military prosecutors of garrisons conducted a total of 262 investigations, finding violations in 144 cases.
The violations were mainly identified in areas related to logistics, arms, capital construction, troop accommodation, military medical, and other services. Specific measures for judicial intervention have been undertaken to eliminate these violations or provide legal assessments. In particular, criminal cases have been initiated in connection with 28 incidents, which primarily relate to irregularities in the procurement, acceptance, maintenance, and use of various material resources and services for the needs of the Ministry of Defense, as well as social protection of servicemen and the alienation process of state-owned real estate.
The initiated criminal cases include apparent official forgery, abuse of official position, exceeding official powers, as well as acts characterized by negligent attitude toward official duties by officials and other criminal features.
