Military Helicopter Crashes in Colombia, Casualties Reported

A military helicopter has crashed in Colombia, resulting in reported casualties. All victims were members of the helicopter's crew.

According to the military department, the crashed helicopter was in excellent condition and had been used multiple times to transport the head of state. Notably, it was also used during Pope Francis’s visit to Colombia in 2017.

The helicopter disappeared after taking off from the Palanquero airbase in the Cundinamarca department. Preliminary information indicates that there were two officers and four crew members onboard at the time of the incident.

“The Colombian Air Force expresses deep sorrow over the death of the six crew members,” stated a message from the Colombian Air Force.

The causes of the crash are still unknown, and an investigation has been initiated.
