Hayk Harutyunyan Couldn’t Imagine One Day He Would Find Himself Behind Bars: Kocharian

Former police chief Hayk Harutyunyan was psychologically unprepared to answer questions that he was not comfortable with. This was stated today by Andranik Kocharian, a deputy from the ruling 'My Step' alliance, during a briefing in the National Assembly.

According to him, had he been interrogated in a closed regime, he would have been able to answer many questions. “He was struggling with the fact that, having held that position, he had taken certain actions, even though he denied acting outside the law. I can confidently say that on March 1, the security forces operated from various control centers,” Kocharian emphasized.

One of the psychological issues for Harutyunyan, the deputy stated, was that he had previously worked in the penal system and couldn’t even think that one day he might find himself on the other side of the bars.

“First, it needs to be clarified whether Hayk Harutyunyan was a suicide or was he murdered. The quality of the preliminary investigation bodies’ work is very important in this regard, to prevent political manipulation. Nevertheless, there are no significant witnesses left in the March 1 case. Witnesses either flee or find themselves in such sad situations. The same happened with the October 27 case,” Kocharian unexpectedly stated.
