The Issue of Stepanakert Airport Operation is on the Agenda: Minister of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh
The issue of the operation of Stepanakert Airport is on the agenda. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh, Masis Mayilyan, during a press briefing following the signing of a declaration with Laurent Wauquiez, the head of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France.
“As is known, the airport is not operational because Azerbaijan uses its membership in ICAO and creates obstacles. In this way, they continue their policy of isolation against the people of Artsakh. I am sure you have heard the threats made by Azerbaijani authorities, including the intention to strike civilian aircraft if they enter the skies of Karabakh. This is an unacceptable approach that hinders the realization of the basic rights of the people of Artsakh, particularly the right to free movement,” emphasized the minister.
However, the authorities in Artsakh continue to work on overcoming the obstacles. “And just as we managed to eliminate the blockade in sectors such as telecommunications and banking in Artsakh, we will also resolve this issue,” the minister stressed.
