Explosion of Gas Cylinder in Apartment: One Injured

On October 24, at 1:52 PM, the 911 service received a report of an explosion heard from the 5th floor of a building at 5 Avetis Aharonyan Street in Yerevan, along with visible smoke. A second call reported that windows had shattered from the 6th floor of the same address, damaging a parked vehicle in the courtyard of the building; assistance from rescuers was required. This information was provided by the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Emergency responders from the Yerevan Fire and Rescue Department and a duty doctor from the Disaster Medicine Center were dispatched to the scene. It was determined that a 3 kg gas cylinder had exploded in the kitchen of the apartment, resulting in a fire outbreak. The fire was extinguished by local forces. Household items in the kitchen were burned along with grease deposits on the gas cylinder. Windows in the living room and kitchen were broken and shattered.

The resident, Yeghishe A. (born 1946), suffered varying degrees of burns to his head and arms and was hospitalized at the Scientific Center of Radiation Medicine and Burns, where doctors assessed his condition as moderately severe.

Rescuers discovered a damaged Mazda 6 vehicle in the courtyard of the building.
