Nairi Hunanian Must First Present His Statements: Andranik Kocharyan
“If Nairi Hunanian has a desire to share information that would significantly allow the Republic of Armenia to understand what happened on October 27, he must first present his statements,” said MP Andranik Kocharyan today in the National Assembly, commenting on Hunanian's request for early release.
Kocharyan emphasized that Hunanian has only expressed a desire to gain freedom after 20 years. However, he believes that a person who has committed such a crime—one that deprived the country of its developmental prospects for two decades—does not have the right to that.
“He has enabled other forces to plunge our country into such a corrupt system that it was only possible to free ourselves from it after 20 years. This corrupt system was what maintained the power. It was this oligarchic corrupt system that served the ruling elite from election to election, and today you can see the fierce struggle this elite is waging to obstruct any possible revelations, whether it be regarding March 1 or the April inquiry commission,” he added.
Earlier, we reported that Nairi Hunanian, the leader of the terrorist group involved in the October 27 case, who is sentenced to life imprisonment and is serving his sentence at “Yerevan Kentron” penitentiary, has requested early release.
