Our Proposed Solution Is for Constitutional Court Judges to Retire Early, Says Badasyan

The civilized solution we envision for resolving the crisis surrounding the Constitutional Court is for its judges to retire early. This was stated today by the Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan during a conversation with journalists.

"The Ministry of Justice is engaged in the drafting of laws, and we have developed a draft law that will soon be discussed in the government and sent to the National Assembly," he noted, referring to the proposal for early retirement.

In response to the remark that the Constitutional Court judges do not wish to retire early, the minister replied, "I am not aware of anyone's opinion, other than Alvina Gyulumyan, who clearly stated that she does not plan to retire early."

To the question of whether the issue of the Constitutional Court crisis could be considered in the context of constitutional amendments, he mentioned, "If the special group formed for making constitutional changes addresses the new model of the composition of the Constitutional Court or similar changes and gains the approval of political forces, it is also possible that a solution will be found within that framework."
