We Have No Eye on Syrian Lands: Erdogan on Military Operations in Syria
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, commenting on the military operations taking place in northern Syria, stated that Turkey has no eye on Syrian lands and advocates for the preservation of Syria's territorial integrity. This was reported by the Sabah newspaper.
"We have no eye on Syrian lands. We are blocking all those who want to divide and partition Syria," said the Turkish president.
Erdogan also denied reports that terrorists from the Islamic State had escaped from prisons in the area of operations. "That news is a provocation aimed at the US and Europe," the Turkish leader stated.
He also noted that the military operations have not caused any issues in Turkey's relations with Russia. "Agreements reached in Sochi, Tehran, and Ankara are being successfully implemented. If problems arise, I can communicate with the President of Russia within 24 hours," Erdogan emphasized.
It is worth recalling that on October 9, Turkey announced the start of military operations in Syria, during which the country has already targeted the Syrian cities of Tal Abyad, Ras al-Ain, and other settlements. The objective is to "clear the area from PKK terrorists," create a security zone, and resettle 3-4 million Syrian refugees there.
