We Will Have a Project to Solve Traffic Congestion Caused by Accidents: Avinyan
At the meeting of the government’s ministerial committee, the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure and the police were tasked with jointly discussing and solving the issue of traffic congestion. This was stated by Armenia's Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan during the government session.
“In many cases, when an accident occurs, vehicles stop and a long congestion forms, resulting in damages of, say, 50-60 thousand drams. Within two months, we will have a project that will provide solutions to these issues,” noted the Deputy Prime Minister.
The Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Suren Papikyan, added that in many developed countries, drivers involved in accidents are required to photograph the accident, come to an agreement, and remove their vehicles; otherwise, they face fines. In Armenia, this is done on a voluntary basis if drivers come to an agreement. He emphasized that optimal solutions will be found as a result of the discussions.
