California, the 'most Armenian' state in the U.S., bans investments in Turkey

California, the 'most Armenian' state in the U.S., has banned investments in Turkey. Governor Gavin Newsom has signed AB 1597, a bill that prohibits state employees and teachers' pension systems from investing in programs carried out by the Turkish government.

The governor stated that California stands for justice and remembers the genocide of 1.5 million Armenians in 1915. The bill is authored by Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian, who has urged Turkey to cease its false initiatives denying the genocide.
