Justice Minister on Reports of Mass Hunger Strike in Armavir Prison
Justice Minister Rustam Badasyan stated in a recent interview with journalists that currently there are no inmates on hunger strike in the Armavir penitentiary. He emphasized that the claims regarding 51 inmates participating in a hunger strike are exaggerated.
“The numbers are exaggerated; at this moment, no one is on hunger strike. There are no discussions about 50 people. There have been issues regarding a few individuals, who had expressed dissatisfaction related to transfer matters,” Badasyan said.
When asked why transfers were decided upon, Badasyan noted that he is unaware of the details. “This is just another routine incident occurring within the penal institution,” he added.
