What Did Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and the Head of Finland's Foreign Ministry Discuss?
Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, met with Pekka Haavisto, the Finnish Foreign Minister, on September 24, during a working visit to New York for the 74th session of the UN General Assembly. This was reported by the press and public diplomacy department of Armenia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Minister Mnatsakanyan congratulated his Finnish counterpart on assuming office and wished him success in this responsible mission. The foreign ministers expressed mutual willingness to take practical steps towards fully utilizing the potential for multifaceted cooperation between the two countries. The importance of promoting connections between representatives in the fields of information technology, creative education, and innovation was emphasized.
The parties exchanged views on the priorities of Finland's presidency in the EU Council and also addressed the expansion and strengthening of cooperation within the framework of the Eastern Partnership. In this context, Minister Mnatsakanyan highlighted the importance of initiating dialogue on the liberalization of EU visa regimes, particularly concerning the enhancement of contacts between people.
The head of Armenia's foreign policy department presented to his Finnish counterpart Armenia's principled position and approaches regarding the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The interlocutors emphasized the commitment of the conflicting parties to the exclusively peaceful resolution of the issue.
