I Haven't Been Invited Yet to the Parliamentary Inquiry Commission, But I Will Be: Tonoyan
The information provided by the Ministry of Defense to the Parliamentary Inquiry Commission regarding the April war has a greater value than the information given by a single individual. This was stated today, September 18, by Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan during a conversation with journalists at the National Assembly, addressing the fact that participants of the April war have also been reviewed by that commission.
When asked whether it is possible that there could be dismissals in the Ministry of Defense as a result of the National Assembly's commission work, the minister replied, “I cannot exclude anything, but not during the functioning of the parliamentary commission. It is quite possible that the conclusions may be such that they also entail dismissals. But I exclude that possibility at this moment. I have said once that dozens of criminal cases were initiated regarding the April operations in 2016-2017. Various decisions were made; some cases were closed, and some cases are still ongoing.”
Davit Tonoyan informed that he has not yet been invited by the Parliamentary Inquiry Commission, but he believes he will be. “Indeed, my turn will come too. I don’t have an invitation from the commission yet, but I will have one. We are transferring all valuable information to the commission,” he added.
He further noted that a very comprehensive analysis has been prepared in the Ministry of Defense, which may also serve to guide the commission's work, stating, “More questions may arise, and many issues may be closed.”
