Leader of the 'Enlightened Armenia' party Edmon Marukyan has sent a congratulatory message from Strasbourg, France.
"On this day in 1953, the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms came into force. Thanks to this document, today around 800 million people living in Europe have the right to turn to the European Court, which is for many the last hope to restore violated rights, as domestic courts do not always operate seamlessly for objective and subjective reasons.
I congratulate us all, as we have the fortune to live in a period when such a document exists and such a court is established."
