Gagik Khachatryan and His Nephew Charged, Request for Arrest Submitted

The former head of the State Revenue Committee, Gagik Khachatryan, and his nephew, Karen Khachatryan, have been charged with severe misappropriation and abuse of office.

The news was confirmed by their attorney, Yerevan Sargsyan. He stated that the investigative body has submitted a request to the court to arrest his clients. The defense has not released further details at this time.

It should be noted that yesterday the defense filed a complaint against the decision to arrest them; it is possible that the court will consider both the complaint and the request simultaneously today. According to our information, Gagik Khachatryan was questioned again after the charges were brought against him.

Recall that the day before, the National Security Service conducted searches in areas belonging to the former head of the State Revenue Committee. After the investigative actions were concluded, Khachatryan and his nephew, Karen Khachatryan, were arrested. They are suspected of serious misappropriation and abuse of office. Khachatryan has been questioned several times at the NSS regarding this case.
