The Law Allows for the Suspension of Subsurface Use Rights: Minister of Justice
The Minister of Justice of Armenia, Rustam Badasyan, has shared a post by Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan regarding discussions surrounding Amulsar.
“Any entity with subsurface use rights in the Republic of Armenia must understand that Article 30 of the 'Subsurface Code' allows for the suspension of subsurface use rights. If violations are recorded by the subsurface user, the supervisory body is authorized to demand that the subsurface user rectify the issues within 90 days; otherwise, the company’s subsurface use permit may be revoked. In this regard, we will monitor not only the proper and timely fulfillment of every commitment undertaken by Lydian but also impose equivalent requirements on all other mining companies with respect to environmental protection,” he wrote.
