Temporary Head of the Armenian State Economic University to Resign. Araik Harutyunyan

The temporary head of the Armenian State Economic University, Ruben Hayrapetyan, has been relieved of his duties. This was announced by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Araik Harutyunyan through a Facebook post.

“Today, at my initiative, a meeting took place with the temporary head of the Armenian State Economic University, Ruben Hayrapetyan, during which we discussed the current situation surrounding the university, specifically the allegations concerning issues in Hayrapetyan's doctoral dissertation, some of which he has publicly acknowledged,” Harutyunyan stated.

“Considering that for our government and for me personally, the exclusion of such phenomena in the educational and scientific system is of primary importance, we have reached a mutual agreement that Ruben Hayrapetyan will leave the position he holds. I believe that this step should serve as another proof for our citizens that the rule of law and certain core values are paramount for us, regardless of all circumstances, whether they pertain to the significant professional skills that Ruben Hayrapetyan possesses, political views, personal relationships, or notable achievements in his work.”
