According to the publication, the White House chief has repeatedly broached the subject with his advisers and has shown keen interest in discussions regarding the geopolitical significance and resources of the island. Additionally, the topic of expanding the presence of American troops in the Arctic has also been discussed.
Some advisers have supported Trump's idea, deeming it economically viable.
