A Comprehensive Study of Fires to Be Presented in a 5-Day Period
On August 16, a working consultation was held at the Rescue Service, chaired by the acting head of the Rescue Service, Major General Vrej Gabrielyan. The heads of the regional rescue departments and participating leaders of structural divisions reported on the summary of activities conducted during the reporting period from August 10 to 16.
Upon reviewing the reports, the general specifically addressed the prevailing fire hazard situation in the country, with the primary cause being human factors related to high temperatures. Responsible departments were instructed to present comprehensive studies on publicized fires within a 5-day deadline for fire outbreak analyses and conclusions.
Vrej Gabrielyan informed that henceforth, the detection and neutralization of explosive ordnance and equipment will be carried out using ministry resources in the relevant areas. He noted that this function has already commenced.
Summarizing the consultation, Mr. Gabrielyan mentioned that there are smoldering hotspots in the forest near the "Arevik" National Park along the Lachin-Vardanidzor highway in the Syunik region, where firefighting units from the regional rescue department continue to carry out firefighting operations. Measures for fire isolation have been implemented.
Given the developments, he called for heightened vigilance, urging readiness to take actions as the situation evolves.
During the reporting period, the central alarm service of the "911" service handled a total of 21,575 calls. Medical and psychological consultations were provided for 26 and 12 requests, respectively. The fire alarm system registered 74 alerts, while the "911 SMS" system received 214 messages. Out of the recorded fires, 16 occurred in buildings, and 192 took place in vegetation areas, burning approximately 377 hectares of territory.
