ICRC Engaged in Secret Bilateral Dialogue Regarding Soldier Arayik Ghazaryan Found in Azerbaijan
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is involved in a secret bilateral dialogue with representatives of the relevant authorities concerning the case of Arayik Ghazaryan, a soldier who has found himself in Azerbaijan.
Speaking to Armenpress, officials from the ICRC's Yerevan office stated that within the framework of its mandate, the ICRC visits persons deprived of liberty to assess their conditions of detention and to assist in establishing contact with their families.
It is noteworthy that on August 12, at around 12:00, under still unclear circumstances, soldier Arayik Haik Ghazaryan, born in 2000, left his combat position at one of the military units deployed in the southeastern direction of the Defense Army. Earlier, the spokesperson for the Armenian Minister of Defense, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, confirmed that there is currently an Armenian citizen in Azerbaijan.
