The Adversary is Trying to Restrain Our Achievements: Deputy Minister of Defense on Gunfire
In the last two weeks, gunfire from the adversary has increased due to ongoing engineering work. This was stated today, August 12, during a conversation with journalists by Deputy Minister of Defense Gabriel Balayan.
“In the last 1-2 weeks, there have only been a few days when gunfire has been more than usual. As we have declared, these are mainly the result of engineering work, both sides are conducting very intensive engineering work, and our position, based on the policy implemented by the Ministry of Defense, is that the adversary should not be given any opportunity to not only advance in terms of positional advantage but also to strengthen itself,” Balayan stated.
The Deputy Minister of Defense added that significant achievements have been made by the Armenian side in almost all border areas of Armenia due to their engineering works. “And our recent tensions are precisely the result of the adversary trying to restrain our achievements that we already have and are trying to consolidate. Due to weather conditions, there may be fog, resulting in some gunfire. Yesterday, I was in the area of Khachik village, and I can say it was relatively calm. Gunfire was minimal or almost nonexistent. There were some shots towards Zangakatun, in combat positions beyond the settlements. Overall, I can say that it is manageable by Armenian forces. The quantity of gunfire is as usual,” he said.
