Armenian Armed Forces Tank Crews Participate in Tank Biathlon 2019
As part of the international Tank Biathlon competitions, teams from Armenia, Russia, Iran, and Kyrgyzstan participated in the first race. The Russian crew completed the course without errors in a record time of 17 minutes and 30 seconds, hitting all targets.
In the first phase, the Iranian team was approaching the Russian crew, but they failed to hit one of the "tanks," resulting in a penalty that automatically disqualified them from winning. Following Iran, the Kyrgyzstan team started. They moved slowly but accurately.
The performances of the Armenian soldiers were particularly unsatisfactory in terms of shooting, as they missed hitting the "tank" once and the "helicopter" another time. To make up for lost time, the tank crews from Kyrgyzstan and Armenia decided to simply press the gas pedals. Unfortunately, due to a mistake, the Armenian team received a penalty and wasted an extra 40 seconds, allowing their opponents to advance.
On the third day of the Tank Biathlon, the Armenian team found itself in last place, while the Kyrgyzstan team was in third, trailing behind the Iranian team.
This year, the Tank Biathlon is being held from August 3 to 17. In 2019, 25 countries confirmed their participation in the Tank Biathlon.
