Mother and Son Die in Lori Province Due to Rockfall Incident (UPDATED)
A tragic incident occurred today in Lori Province. At around 14:20, a massive rockfall took place in the administrative area of the village of Neghots on the Yerevan-Vanadzor-Alaverdi highway. According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, three individuals were transported with bodily injuries to the Alaverdi Medical Center, where two of them, failing to regain consciousness, died.
Rescuers, police, and citizens are working alongside road construction workers to remove the fallen rocks from the specified area. Two vehicles, a Gazelle with the license plate 35 XX 233 and a Vaz 2104 with the license plate 34 ZZ 338, were trapped under the debris. Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that the deceased were a mother and her son.
Investigators from the Tumanyan investigative department and forensic experts from the Lori regional police are also working at the site.
