Tbilisi–Yerevan Airfare Prices Have Increased; Armenian Authorities Unaware
Airfare prices from Tbilisi to Yerevan and in the opposite direction have increased several times, reports aliq.ge.
The upcoming flight on July 10, as stated on the official page of the Georgian airline Georgian Airways, has a ticket price of 800 Lari (approximately $280) for economy class, and 1,230 Lari (approximately $430) for business class. It is important to note that just a month ago, tickets for the same route could be purchased for about $100.
In an interview with NEWS.am, the head of the Civil Aviation Committee, Tatik Revazyan, first inquired whether any research had been conducted, then added that she would request the committee's employees to carry out an investigation: "We have not conducted that research. Honestly, I will ask our team to perform a study, to contact the airline, so they can provide more accurate information regarding prices. However, it is possible that this is related to the closure of flights between Russia and Georgia, meaning increased demand; we will investigate."
