30-Year-Old Woman Charged with Murdering Her Minor Daughter

The Investigative Committee of Armenia (ICA) has announced that a 30-year-old woman has been charged with the murder of her 7-year-old daughter as a result of ongoing investigative actions in the Lori regional investigative department.

According to official reports, the alert about the strangulation of the girl was received on June 21, 2019, in the village of Hartaghuys, Lori region. The investigation has established several details surrounding the case, including the identity of the alleged perpetrator, who is the child's mother.

As per the information gathered, during the time frame of 16:00 to 18:00 on June 21, 2019, the 30-year-old woman, in her home in the village of Hartaghuys, intentionally strangled her minor daughter, born in 2011, resulting in the child's death.

Based on the sufficient combination of evidence obtained, the woman has been charged under Part 1 of Article 104 of the Armenian Criminal Code. As a preventive measure, she has been placed under arrest.

The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
