Car Accident in Kotayk Region: One Driver Was Under the Influence

A serious car accident occurred today in the Kotayk region. Around 03:00, on the 11th kilometer of the Yerevan-Sevan highway, in front of the "Lusabats" restaurant complex, two vehicles collided: a Volkswagen driven by 62-year-old Khachatur Hovakimyan and an Opel driven by 30-year-old Gevorg Stepanyan.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, as a result of the accident, Volkswagen driver K. Hovakimyan was transported to Saint Gregory the Illuminator Medical Center, while Opel driver G. Stepanyan and his passenger, fellow citizen 30-year-old Gevorg Simonyan, were taken to Abovyan Medical Center. Both drivers underwent sobriety testing, which revealed that the Opel driver had been drinking.
