Robert Kocharian has met with his 2.5-year-old grandson.

This was stated by Hrach Mushakyan, the head of the investigative group on the March 1 case, in response to a question from Armtimes.com, refuting the claim made by Kocharian's lawyer, Aram Orbelian, yesterday, that the prosecuting body had prohibited Kocharian from meeting with his grandson.

“I don’t know what prompted Aram Orbelian to make such a false statement. After Robert Kocharian was detained, a decision was made to prohibit visits and phone calls with close relatives, media representatives, and other individuals, as well as contact with family and the outside world. This was related to the integrity, objectivity, and comprehensiveness of this criminal case, considering that these visits could negatively affect the investigation and, based on the interests of the investigation, such a decision was made. Aram Orbelian mentioned the assistance of the Human Rights Defender, which is also not true insofar as they directly appealed to the prosecuting body and that the prosecuting body allowed it,” said Hrach Mushakyan, adding that during a court session, attorney Hovhannes Khudoyan submitted a motion, and the next day he made a decision to lift the restrictions on visits in that regard: “The child has been allowed to meet with Robert Kocharian,” added the head of the investigative group.
