Mamedyarov on Tonoyan's Statement

The official Baku is ready to discuss any proposals related to the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, as long as they align with Azerbaijan's territorial integrity. This was stated by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov in Brussels.

He expressed confusion about the statement made by Armenia's Minister of Defense, David Tonoyan, just a few hours after their meeting in New York.

During a meeting with the Armenian-American community, Tonoyan said, "I have reformulated the territories for peace approach; we are doing the opposite – new war for new territories."

“On one hand, very positive statements are being made, while on the other hand, it is absurd to create new difficulties. This is one of the issues that needs to be worked on. In Armenia, there must be an understanding that the policy of annexation and occupation of territories cannot be tied to international relations,” Mamedyarov stated.
