Compensation Will Also Be Provided to Soldiers Killed and Injured Between 2008-2014
The first meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Soldiers' Insurance Fund for 2019 was held on March 22 at the administrative complex of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia. The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Minister of Defense David Tonoyan.
This information was provided by the Ministry of Defense’s Information and Public Relations Department.
During the meeting, the Fund's Executive Director Varouhan Avetikkian presented a summary report on the compensations and donations made from the beginning of last year to the present, emphasizing that the amount raised in the Fund has now exceeded 14 billion AMD, with total compensations amounting to 941 million AMD.
The Board of Trustees unanimously decided that starting April 1 of this year, compensations will also be provided to the families of soldiers killed or those who were disabled while defending the homeland between 2008 and 2014. It should be noted that on August 9, 2018, the Board of Trustees had also approved a decision on financial compensations related to incidents that occurred in 2015 and 2016. Moreover, it was decided during the meeting to discuss the possibility of compensating for incidents that took place before 2008 next year.
Commenting on the work done and the procedures for raising financial resources, Board members noted that the funds generated from the management of the Fund's assets last year exceeded the volume of compensations made, which once again confirms the high efficiency of the Soldiers' Insurance Fund's operations.
The program continues to operate successfully under the principles of full accountability and exceptional transparency to the public.
