Extraordinary Incident: 54-Year-Old Man Attempts Self-Immolation at Government Building with Daughter

An extraordinary incident occurred in Yerevan. Yesterday, on February 19, a citizen attempted to enter the government building with his daughter and, in a sign of protest, tried to self-immolate. This information was reported by Shamshyan.com.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, fortunately, officers from the special police unit of Yerevan noticed the man on-site, approached him, and through psychological negotiations were able to convince him not to proceed with this extreme act. Shamshyan's reports indicate that the special police unit's first platoon subsequently took him to the central police division, where flammable materials were found on him, which he intended to use to set himself on fire after entering the government building. According to Shamshyan, the individual is 54-year-old Harutyun P., a resident of Gyumri, who had some issues and visited the government building with his daughter. Investigative materials are being prepared at the central division of the police regarding the incident.
