85.7 Million Dram Damage: Two Forest Managers of 'Chambarak Forestry' Arrested
Two forest managers have been arrested in connection with illegal logging activities conducted in the various forest sections of the 'Chambarak Forestry' enterprise, part of the 'Hayantar' State Non-Commercial Organization, based on an investigation by the Gegharkunik regional investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee.
According to the RA Investigative Committee, preliminary data indicates that from July 1, 2015, to August 3, 2018, a total of 504 trees of different species and diameters were illegally felled from the reserves of various forest sections of 'Chambarak Forestry', causing substantial property damage to the state amounting to 85,749,000 AMD.
In connection with this case, a criminal case has been initiated under Articles 296, 308, and 315 of the RA Criminal Code.
The investigation has found that officials of the 'Chambarak Forestry' branch of 'Hayantar' State Non-Commercial Organization did not properly fulfill their duties.
Specifically, by misusing their official positions for purposes contrary to the interests of the service and neglecting their official duties, they displayed a negligent and careless attitude towards their responsibilities due to personal interests and group motives.
Amid suspicions of abuse of official powers, illegal logging, and official negligence, two forest managers from the 'Getik' and 'Dprabaki' sections of the 'Chambarak Forestry' branch have been arrested.
The investigation continues, with necessary investigative and procedural actions being taken to ensure a complete, objective, and comprehensive examination of the circumstances surrounding the illegal logging activities.
