Kosovo is prepared to cede part of its territory to Serbia as compensation for a final agreement between Belgrade and Pristina. This was reported by Gazeta Express, citing the self-declared republic's leader Hashim Thaci.

Thaci emphasized that the process will not be easy, but "this is the only way to avoid a return to conflicts and heightened tensions."

He noted that, nonetheless, certain entities will not be subject to transfer. These include the Gazivode reservoir, the town of Kosovo Mitrovica, and the Trepča industrial complex.

It should be noted that in 2008, the Kosovo-Albanian institutions in Pristina unilaterally declared independence from Serbia. The self-declared republic is not recognized by Serbia, Russia, China, Israel, Iran, Spain, Greece, and several other countries.
