Electricity Tariff to Decrease by 10 Drams for Socially Vulnerable Families
The Public Service Regulatory Commission of Armenia is set to discuss the reduction of electricity tariffs for socially vulnerable families during its session on December 27, 2018.
According to the results of calculations conducted as part of the review process of electricity tariffs by the PSRC, the additional amount formed due to the influence of all factors in the electricity system is 1 billion 586.5 million drams.
If tariffs for all categories of final consumers are revised, the impact of this amount could lead to a decrease of 0.37 drams/kWh. However, for socially vulnerable families specifically, this could result in a reduction of around 10 drams/kWh.
Currently, the daytime tariff for socially vulnerable families is set at 40 drams and is expected to decrease by 25%, bringing it to 29.99 drams/kWh, while the nighttime tariff will decrease by 33.4%, bringing it to 19.99 drams/kWh.
It is noted that this additional amount primarily arose from reductions in salary expenditures within system companies and a 2% decrease in the profit norm of the Electric Networks of Armenia.
