Preschool Age Threshold May Be Reduced
The government has approved the drafts of amendments and changes to the laws on "Preschool Education," "General Education," and "Vocational Education and Training." The adoption of these bills will align sectoral laws with the new requirements of the "Law on Education," ensuring the expansion of access to preschool education.
The draft proposes to lower the preschool age threshold to 4 years, allowing for greater inclusion in communities where there are many applicants for enrollment. In cases where a community has only one institution, provisions will be made to form age-groups, considering that the number of preschool-age children is minimal in such areas, making the construction of kindergartens cost-ineffective.
This regulation will allow for increased enrollment of preschool-age children and ensure the implementation of mandatory preschool education for 5-6-year-olds, in accordance with the Government's strategic objectives.
