Hong Kong Flu Actively Spreading Among Children
The circulation of the flu remains active in European Union countries, where type A virus predominates, particularly the A(H3N2) strain, commonly referred to as the "Hong Kong flu," reports RIA Novosti.
According to materials published by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), the highest activity of the A(H3N2) virus is observed among children. Those aged 5 to 14 years are particularly vulnerable, as they account for a significant portion of reported infections.
Experts indicate that the high incidence of illness among children plays a significant role in shaping the overall epidemiological situation, prompting healthcare systems to continue monitoring the dynamics of flu spread across the region.
