Peskov Responds to European Statements on Russian Threat
Statements by European leaders regarding an alleged threat from Russia are absurd, Russian President Vladimir Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated during a briefing for Indian media, according to Sputnik India.
"They say that Russia poses a threat to Europe, but that's nonsense," Peskov said, referring to comments made by European authorities.
According to Peskov, such declarations about a "Russian threat" are attempts by European authorities to divert their citizens' attention from internal issues and shift focus onto an alleged external threat.
Previously, President Vladimir Putin had expressed his willingness to confirm "by any means necessary" that Russia does not intend to attack European countries. He emphasized that Moscow has no aggressive plans towards Europe. He also labeled as "frauds" those spreading information regarding the risk of Russian aggression against EU countries. Putin stated that Russia is ready to discuss European security and strategic stability with the West.
