Kyiv Reveals Which Points Regarding Russia Were Removed from the U.S. Peace Plan
The updated U.S. peace plan for resolving the conflict with Russia has excluded points related to U.S.-Russia relations, as well as other provisions unrelated to Ukraine. This was announced by Oleksandr Bevz, an advisor to the head of the Ukrainian President's Office, who participated in the Geneva negotiations.
"The document will continue to be modified. We can confirm that it has been reduced—removing points unrelated to Ukraine, eliminating duplicate information, and editing it," Bevz stated. He simultaneously denied claims that the number of points had been reduced from 28 to 19.
According to Financial Times, Kyiv agreed to limit its armed forces to 800,000. Politico reported that seven points were removed from the plan, and the conditions for transferring Donbas to Russian control were altered, along with other sensitive issues relating to Ukrainian territories.
According to Reuters and CBS, the Ukrainian delegation supported the main provisions of the agreement while leaving out only a few details. The Kremlin has received the preliminary version of the document. Russian President Vladimir Putin has admitted that this plan could serve as a basis for peaceful resolution, while the Russian Foreign Ministry has expressed its willingness to study the interim version developed by the United States and coordinated with Ukraine and Europe.
