Azerbaijan Refuses to Participate in EuroNest Conference in Yerevan
The delegation of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis has decided not to participate in the 12th plenary session of the EuroNest Parliamentary Assembly, scheduled to take place from October 28 to 30 in Yerevan.
Delegation head Tahir Mirgishili stated that a significant part of EuroNest's activities is based on documents and declarations from the European Parliament, which, according to him, contradict Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Mirgishili noted that such approaches hinder the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, contributing to the preservation of conflict. He emphasized that Baku has repeatedly expressed dissatisfaction with these positions, and after the recent peace negotiations held in Washington, the latest declaration from the European Parliament has ultimately diminished trust in EuroNest.
At the same time, Mirgishili highlighted that the refusal is not related to the fact that the session will be held in Armenia. He added that peace has already been established between the two countries, and practical steps are being taken towards the normalization of relations.
