EU Responds to Lifting of All Restrictions on Goods Transit from Azerbaijan to Armenia
The European Union welcomes the recent positive steps taken in the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process, including the lifting of all restrictions on the transit of goods from Azerbaijan to Armenia. This statement was made by Magdalena Grono, the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia.
According to her, the EU sincerely welcomes these practical developments and is ready to support all similar initiatives and additional measures to strengthen trust.
The Special Representative considers the meeting held in Geneva between the spokespersons of Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as the upcoming roundtable discussions between Armenian and Azerbaijani civil society experts in Yerevan, to be encouraging.
“We also welcome the announced preparatory work for the upcoming meeting between Armenia and Turkey regarding the restoration and operation of the Shirak-Kars railway,” the EU official noted.
