Migrants in Russia Without Legal Residency Status Face Deportation
Migrants in Russia who have not legalized their residency status may face deportation and fines if they do not voluntarily leave the country, notifying authorities of their intended departure date, location, and route. This was announced by State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.
“All those who have not legalized their residency status in Russia are obliged to leave our country by informing us of their planned departure date, location, and route. Otherwise, the migrant faces forced deportation and a fine. After that, they will be banned from entering Russia for at least five years,” Volodin wrote on his Max channel.
He reminded that one month ago, on September 10, the period of stay for foreign citizens in Russia expired, whose information was included in the register of controlled persons—the database of foreign citizens residing illegally in the Russian Federation.
According to the State Duma Speaker, starting from February 5, 2025, the register will include individuals who do not have documents confirming their legal place of residence in Russia, have not completed their registration, missed deadlines for mandatory medical examinations and fingerprinting, and have not extended their permits, work permits, or employment contracts.
