Merz Threatens Russia: Putin-Zelensky Meeting Must Not Fail
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has stated that Western countries are prepared to intensify pressure on Russia through sanctions if Russian President Vladimir Putin does not meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
During a joint press conference in Berlin with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, he expressed that it is now Moscow's turn. "Now it is Moscow's turn. We, in the European Union, are working on new sanctions. U.S. President Donald Trump, for his part, has not ruled out imposing new punitive tariffs on Russia," the chancellor said.
